Why servicing matters

Air conditioners are not set and forget appliances. Filters clog, coils get dirty, refrigerant levels drift and electrical connections loosen over time. None of this is dramatic on its own, but left unchecked it adds up to higher running costs, reduced cooling and heating performance, and a shorter life for the unit. A yearly service is the cheapest insurance you can buy for a system that likely cost several thousand dollars to install.

What's in a service

• Filter clean or replacement, indoor and outdoor
• Coil clean on both the indoor and outdoor unit to restore airflow and heat transfer
• Refrigerant level check, with a leak check if levels are low
• Electrical check of connections, capacitors and contactors
• Test run of the system across heating and cooling modes, checking temperatures and airflow

How often should you service?

For most residential systems, once a year is the standard recommendation, ideally before the start of summer when the system is about to work hardest. Systems in coastal areas, dusty environments, or used heavily (such as rental properties or businesses running units most of the day) often benefit from servicing every six months instead.

Warranty implications

Most manufacturers require proof of regular servicing to honour a warranty claim on a major component failure. If a compressor fails at year four and there is no service history on file, you may find yourself paying for a repair that should have been covered. We provide a service record after every visit so you have that paperwork ready if you ever need it.
